The RFT2-17-SKB-HTR represents a technical upgrade of the original RFT-15-SKB-HTR deployed on KC-135 military refueling tankers (ROBE) where it serves as the main operator command console for refueling operations. The hardened LCD panel and MCU controlled LCD heater system are engineered to permit full operation within 5 minutes after power-on in temperatures as low as -45C.

The aluminum construction is lightweight, but is designed for strength to accommodate the shock and vibration during all aircraft operations. A unique quick-release front panel lock mechanism together with high pressure gas springs to lift and secure the LCD ensures rapid deployment using gloved hands.

The RFT2-17-SKB-HTR is engineered and constructed to meet the same MIL-STD-810 environmental and MIL-STD-461E EMC requirements as the original certified RFT-15-SKB-HTR unit it supersedes:

MIL-STD-810: Operational Shock, Humidity, Random Vibration, Ground Survival and Operating High- Low-Temperature, Temperature Variation, Altitude, Operational Shock, Humidity, Explosion Proof, Rapid Decompression and Crash Safety.
